Public school districts in Minnesota have the ability to levy, with voter approval, for additional revenue to bridge the gap between district needs and state and federal contributions. Referendum campaigns are complex and can be stressful to plan and execute. When the Executive Director of Communications for Minnetonka Public Schools learned that her Superintendent was planning to present an extensive, black-and-white deck of facts and figures to the community, she knew she needed something more audience friendly. I helped the district tell their story of student success, strong fiscal management, and need for additional funding against a visually rich backdrop. The referendum campaign, including this centerpiece presentation, won a Gold Medallion award from NSPRA (National School Public Relations Association).
